PEONY CREEK SOAY SHEEP
At Peony Creek Soays we offer carefully bred sheep, both horned and polled.  Because having the largest gene pool helps to prevent the expression of harmful recessive genes, we have made sure to include animals bred from both Soay importations in our flock.  We have combined stock from several different flocks in our quest for diversity and feel that our sheep display the maximum possible hardy Soay traits.
Soay sheep are a hardy, no shear, primitive breed from the islands of Soay and Hirta in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.  They are extremely easy to care for, requiring no tail docking and no help with lambing, as well as no shearing. They are cold hardy and thrive on poor pasture.  Soays are an excellent choice for property owners who need to keep brush and weeds cleared for fire safety but have little experience with raising livestock.
